Kahn celebrates the close of a 10-year Anniversary
KAHN Architecture, one of New York’s most respected mid-size architectural and design firms, has built a diverse portfolio of projects in the commercial office, retail, technology, health and education sectors. This talented husband and wife team has become a leading force in New York’s commercial architecture and design arena.
With Heidi at the helm, the firm is extremely proud of its Women-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE) designation which is a strategic advantage in winning both private and public sector work. They are often invited by larger firms to partner on projects as they seek to fulfill their WBE social responsibility initiatives on municipal ventures, as what recently occurred for a large, new educational building in New York City that required a WBE interior design and furniture component for a new 170,000-square-foot complex.
“We are seeing big changes in the kind of workstations clients are looking for,” said Heidi. “Corporate offices are, more and more, using benching systems and work surfaces similar to trading desks.” In addition, Kahn receives increasing calls for open space plans as executives move out from offices to workstations. The firm is also designing more intimate meeting areas with smaller spaces for phone calls and other office functions. And they are handling an increase in requests for larger pantry and gathering areas for varied uses, from town hall meetings and training to entertaining space for employees.
